A nice quiet spot which feels like its in the country, within easy reach of Bath. Beautifully quiet during the evening, good food, clean and comfortable interior finish to the rooms. L'occitane toiletries plenty of hot water and cosy. Bus service to bath right outside the pub, or park n ride in easy reach. Take a nice stroll in the country nearby !
Dont ask me what I would like for breakfast as I walk through the door ! (especially in the morning) I heard my order going out to the kitchen before I had even sat down ?? Staff a little stilted, If you eat at the Wheelrights Arms service at 10% goes straight on the bill, service is discretionary isn't it especially relevant when its this ordinary. Sound Insulation in the ceiling between ground floor and first inadequate. Ask for a room on the 1st floor and I am sure you will be fine.
The location is fantastic and the food is great. The staff are always plerasant and helpful.
We needed to leave at 0730 and were not able to get any breakfast or even check out as there was no-one around
The rooms were spacious and staff very polite and attentive. Great selection of food beautifully cooked and presented.
Ithink it lacked a comfortable area to sit and relax with in the bar area, which I understand the space is maximised for diners but a comfy sofa or arm chair would have been great
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Due to the woodern floors the downstairs rooms could be quite noisy when the upstairs guests were moving around.
nice charming renovated building in a small village, just what you need to escape the touristic rush of Bath
not easy to find, but anyway a good choice
Using the hotel as a central base for days out.
The wooden floors meant that you could hear everything going on in the room above, which was very disturbing at night when our young son was trying to sleep. The footsteps, movement of luggage across the floor and other noises were loud enough to wake both him and us up! Sometimes several times in one night.
Good service, very helpful staff. Excellent evening meal and breakfast.
Noise of people walking around in room above was a little annoying.
Friendly staff always available ,all areas very clean and well appointed excellant standard of cuisine.
Good location for visiting Bath and excellant food,
Rooms at £130 were pricey, stayed in eaqual or better for £80 p/n
This was a fantastic place to stay in a lovely village setting. The room was great, comfy bed & fab shower and accessories. The detail was apparent, caffatiere coffee in the room, little toffees and rose next to the bed. The breakfast is superb, great evening menu and food and great beers and wines. I loved this place!
The phone signal was poor (1bar) and I couldn't connect to the Internet on my laptop. I struggled on my phone too. When I got an Internet connection the phone signal disappeared completely. This wouldn't have a been a problem if I was here for leisure but as I was for business it was a bit of a problem
Friendly helpfull staff and the location was perfect for a quiet peaceful stay.Rooms were of a high standard.Would not hesitate in returning.
Their web page was not that clear about disabled access too rooms etc.even though several rooms were ground floor with easy access to carpark with disabled space available.should advertise the fact.I Took the chance on booking luckily it paid off.
Friendliness of staff Good food Comfortable room Good location views and setting
Areas for improvement :- A shower in the rooms Ability to turn heating on at night Social area in the pub to sit and drink away from dining tables
Very Comfortable room in the countryside and yet close to Bath. It is a small pub/hotel with a difference - both stylish and friendly. The evening meal was delicious, as was the breakfast with a wide choice of much locally sourced produce - delicious! The staff were helpful and very pleasant. We only stayed for one night but will be returning.
We had a small family birthday gathering in the bar/restaurant which was run exactly as we had organised. The waitresses were friendly and efficient.
We thought £145 per room for two persons (on Saturday night) was rather on the high side. We were also slightly miffed that a two night stay was mandatory over the weekend. We wont be going again if a two night stay is stipulated.
The room was perfect. Beautiful and practical with the best shower I ever have in my life. The restaurant is great. Really peaceful. Pure joy.
We forgot our toothpaste. They provide amazing shower products and others but not toothpaste. In the reception they said they don't have any. How come a hotel in the middle of the mountain doesn't have toothpaste. They didn't try to help much either. We went for new years eve and we paid 65 pounds per person for the new years eve dinner and we got a table in a hallway. We thought we were having a nice dinner next to the fireplace. They distribute the space in a different way for that speciall night but didn't prioritise the guest, at least not us.
